Allowlist only the HTML tags that wont trigger any execution in the browser

As a part of Pent test,it was observed that IBM Cognos application is vulnerable to

Stored-XSS occurs when a malicious script is injected directly into a vulnerable web application.

The application accepts all type of inputs without validation and allowing an attacker to execute the scripts in the application.

Whenever the page (where the malicious script is stored) is viewed, the malicious script gets transmitted to the victim’s browser.

A stored XSS vulnerability enables attacks that are self-contained within the application itself.

An attacker can use this vulnerability to steal personal information, cookies, execute malicious code on the client system and so on.

With the elevated access to the tool, the scripts can be stored & they are being executed.

By considering the functionality in the reported editor, HTML tags can be allowed but not the javascripts or

any other malicious form of code that can get executed in the browser.

Tool should allowlist only those HTML tags that wont trigger any execution in the browser
