Bigsql worker nodes in our env is on different sets of hardware - some have 12 data disks and others have 24 data disks. The database path defined under bigsql>configs>Advanced bigsql-env>database path, is just 12 disks. This makes the service inefficient on those servers that have 24 disks. It doesn't use half the disks that are available for use by the app.
|Who would benefit from this IDEA?||All user community would benefit from executing large queries and it and gives them the flexibility to have a mix of servers.|
How should it work?
Enable us to create multiple config groups as it is allowed in hdfs. And then assign different DB path for different groups.
Per TS003086215 neither I can do the same in v504 or v600. I think this is a big limitation of the application. We cannot justify moving to a major version without these enhancements.
If BigSQL Dev team makes this enhancement then the queries (especially large ones) will utilize additional space on these data dense servers. It will also lessen the foot print of the application - half the servers doing the same job.
|Priority Justification||Flexibility to add newer servers that are data dense than the old. Have heterogeneous servers. Finally improve the app performance.|
