set a parameter value dynamically

I would like to be able to set a parameter value dynamically. I would like to create a report that suggests some parameters depending on the 1st parameter.

Add functionality to use expressions or functions in conditional layout for page dependent values.

Add the ability to include the list header only on the first page of the report and not have it repeating across all pages. The conditional statements work fine when in interactive HTML but not in batch (PDF, HTML etc).
