Db2 LUW Automatic maintenance window setting

Current automatic maintenance does not allow to have multiple offline or online maintenance windows, only one of each. For example, we have automatic online maintenance window for 4 hours at night daily but need to have another definition for 24 h...

Page-level recovery request.

DB2 is not able to repair a single bad page, i.e. to perform a page-level recovery. This causes a downtime because the only solution is the execution of the OFFLINE procedures, like RESTORE/RECOVER/db2dart.

Recover should better support offline backups

Recover should better support offline backups. Using a log archive mode database it is possible to restore an offline backup using recover. It is necessary to specify the 'End Time' of the offline backup, otherwise recover would choose an older ba...

Remove EACCES errors when restoring into different instance on same machine

When restoring a database without automatic storage with redirected restore on a machine where the former tablespace paths exist (but are owned by another UID) the redirected restore generates multiple "EACCES (13) PERMISSION DENIED ERRORS" within...

Avoid SQL1246N for incremental backup

This sqlcode SQL1246N is send by DB2 during an incremental backup each time a new tablespace has been created and no full backup of this tablespace has been done. It shoud be more interesting to switch automatically for this tablespace from the in...

Rewind the current database from logs

Opposite to roll forward, it will be great to have the possibility to perform a rewind of a database (in roll-forward state or normal one), to a previous state with the logs. It will be like uncommit, or a general rollback.

Include a comment in the backup

It will be great to include a comment each time a backup is executed. The comment value is included in the history file, it only needs to be used by the backup command.

Platform switch Windows-Linux using OFFLINE database backup image

A platform switch from Windows to Linux (or Linux to Windows), would be much easier if one can use the DB2 backup image itself. Not necessary between two different DB2 versions, and it doesn't have to be an online backup, and of course platforms a...

Verify OVERFLOWLOGPATH is valid at the BEGINNING and allow override in RESTORE DATABASE command.

When restoring a DB2/LUW database Db2 currently restores the database and then abneds if the OVERFLOWLOGPATH is invalid. A restore can take many hours and having the restore fail at the end of the restore wastes all those hours.

Support log switch under SET WRITE SUSPEND EXCLUDE LOGS

Today Db2 cannot switch to a log file while write suspend. Therefore a archive log gets performed at beginning of write suspend. Then the write suspend can only last and the database can only work until 1 log file gets full. The time a database is...
